Record once, get a guide
Capture every click (with a screenshot and a red numbered marker), your voice, and your typing — then OpenSOP writes the whole guide and renders the PDF for you.
OpenSOP watches you do something on your computer — clicking and talking the whole way — and automatically writes a clean, illustrated step-by-step PDF. Every click is captured with a screenshot and a red numbered marker, your voice becomes the instructions, and it all happens on your own PC.
Free · Windows 10 & 11 · No account · Local-first & private
You do the task one time. OpenSOP handles the screenshots, the writing, the numbering and the layout — and lets you fix anything just by talking to it.
Press Ctrl+Alt+R and do the task while you narrate it. OpenSOP captures
every click — with a screenshot and a red numbered circle on the exact spot — plus
your voice and what you type.
An AI cleans up the recording, drops the fumbles, merges tiny steps, and writes a friendly numbered guide — then renders a clean PDF. Your spoken words are treated as the source of truth for what you meant.
On the Done screen, type or speak changes — "drop the search-bar fumble", "combine steps 3 and 4" — and it rewrites the PDF from the same recording. No re-recording.
Finished guides land in your OpenSOP Guides folder, ready to email or text to whoever needs to learn the task.
Numbered steps, plain-English instructions written from your narration, and a captioned screenshot for each click with a red marker on exactly where to press.
A focused, local-first SOP recorder — a Scribe/Tango-style guide maker you fully own.
Capture every click (with a screenshot and a red numbered marker), your voice, and your typing — then OpenSOP writes the whole guide and renders the PDF for you.
It drops fumbling and dead-end clicks, merges tiny steps, and treats your spoken words as the source of truth for what you actually meant to do.
On the Done screen, type or speak changes — "combine steps 3 and 4", "drop the fumble" — and it rewrites the PDF from the same recording. No re-recording.
The AI that writes the guide can run 100% locally via Ollama — no account, no cloud, no per-guide cost, nothing leaves your machine.
Prefer top-tier quality? Add your Anthropic Claude API key for cloud mode at a few cents per guide. OpenSOP auto-detects: local if installed, else cloud.
Your narration is transcribed on your own GPU or CPU with faster-whisper — the same engine family that powers OpenVerba.
Ctrl+Alt+R to start or stop, Ctrl+Alt+P to pause. Record
without hunting for buttons mid-task.
Finished guides land in an "OpenSOP Guides" folder as polished PDFs — ready to email or text the moment they're done.
A native Windows 10/11 desktop app, privacy-first and local-first — the same ethos as its sibling, OpenVerba.
No account, no trial, no subscription. Use the local AI and it costs nothing per guide — ever.
Like OpenVerba, OpenSOP is local-first. The AI that writes your guide can run entirely on your machine. Want the highest quality instead? Bring your own Claude key. It auto-detects which to use.

A native Windows desktop app. (Same platform as OpenVerba.)
Any mic Windows recognizes — built-in, USB, or headset — so you can narrate the task.
Install Ollama with a vision model for free local mode (a GPU helps), or add an Anthropic Claude API key for cloud mode.
Yes. OpenSOP is free for Windows. If you use the built-in local AI it costs nothing per guide — there's no account and no subscription. The only optional cost is if you choose to bring your own Anthropic Claude API key for cloud mode, which is a few cents per guide.
Not in local mode. The screenshots, your narration and your typing are processed on your own machine — transcription runs locally with faster-whisper and the guide is written by a local vision model via Ollama. Nothing is uploaded. Only if you opt into cloud mode are screenshots and text sent to Anthropic's Claude API to write the guide.
Windows 10 or 11 and a microphone. For free local AI you install Ollama with a vision model (such as Qwen2.5-VL); a GPU makes it faster but isn't required. Alternatively, supply an Anthropic Claude API key and you don't need a local model at all.
OpenSOP auto-detects: if a local model is installed it uses that — free, private and offline. If not, and you've added a Claude API key, it uses cloud mode for top-tier quality at a few cents per guide. You're always in control of which one runs.
Yes — by talking to it. On the Done screen you type or speak changes like "drop the steps where I fumbled the search bar" or "combine steps 3 and 4", and OpenSOP rewrites the PDF from the same recording. No re-recording needed.
Yes, OpenSOP is a Windows 10/11 desktop app today, like its sibling OpenVerba.
Free for Windows 10 & 11. Record once, get a polished training PDF — and with the local-AI option it all runs on your own PC, no account and no per-guide cost.
